miRNA Sequencing

miRNAs, which are the small and noncoding RNA molecules, play an important role in regulation of gene expression by adjusting the translation and stability of mRNA. miRNA sequencing has gained importance in diagnosis and monitoring of diseases with the discovery of evidence that states that the failures in the regulation of miRNAs play a role in disease development. Emergence of next generation sequencing technologies facilitated the sequencing of all miRNAs from an RNA sample. Information obtained from miRNA sequencing can be used for miRNA expression profiling, identification of miRNA isoforms, discovery of novel miRNAs and potential miRNA target molecules.
